'How do you make your oats?'

A commonly asked question.. I get this question asked at least once a day from Social Media followers :)

So, with that in mind, I thought I'd shared one of my easiest, simplest and quickest meals of the day! 

Oats have been my pre workout meal for what seems like forever and I have no intentions of swapping them out anytime soon! Definitely up there with probably one of favourite meals of the day ;)

For those of you who may be interested in some nutritional facts, Oats are high in carbohydrates and fibre. Oats also contain a decent amount of protein and in terms of grains, hold the highest quantity of protein in comparison to others. (Interesting fact of the day if you weren't already aware ;) ) 

In terms of vitamins and minerals they contain high amounts of manganese, phosphorus, copper, B-vitamins, iron, selenium, magnesium and zinc. 

Highly nutritious (and cheap) food! You can buy a bag of oats for under $2.00! So, that is a VERY brief little run down so instead of rambling I will get straight into how I prepare my oats...

What I use;

Oats (1/3 cup, 1/2 cup, full cup - quantities vary according to the individual)

Half scoop of Chocolate Whey Protein (or flavour of choice)

1 cup of Almond Milk (Unsweetened)

Half a Banana 

1/3 Cup of Frozen Mixed Berries / Strawberries / Raspberries 

1 Tsp of Honey *Optional 

Small handful of nuts (cashews, almonds) *Optional 

Pretty basic, right?

How to make;

Mix the dry ingredients (oats and WPI) together in a bowl, add a cup of almond milk and mix. Pop into the microwave for 2 - 2 and a half minutes (depending on your microwave and how you like your consistency, I don't like mine runny or liquidy so I leave in the microwave for a little longer). Once done, I just add my frozen berries, chopped banana, nuts and teaspoon of honey... How easy is that? SIMPLE and DELICIOUS! 

I alway aim to consume about 45 minutes pre workout ;)
