Chasing the Sunrise...
Wynnum Manly Waterfront 6.22am Saturday 29th July
In the last few weeks I've started scheduling myself. I schedule in all of my clients Personal Training Sessions, my Online Client Checkin's, content development and programming for my new Online Group (6 Week Shred which is about to drop soon), all of my own training sessions, my session with my coach, meal prep, meeting with friends, Milo's walks... Everything! I find doing this keeps me really structured and it's working real well for me. I have been sticking to it rigidly and finding myself a lot more productive.
Last night I wrote in 'Sunrise walk with Milo'.
I had this scheduled in the 6am - 6.30am block. Sunrise here is around 6.30am at the moment. In order to get up in time and reach the Waterfront where I wanted to watch the Sunrise and walk Milo I had to set my alarm for 5.30am which is perfectly fine, I'm usually up at that time or earlier.
This morning the alarm went off. It's the weekend, Saturday morning, it's dark, kind of chilly (although not as cold as other mornings during the last week) and my bed feels pretty cosy right now!
I'm just going to stay here, it's the weekend after all, lets just chill! I literally pressed snooze on my phone alarm twice.
It was now 5.50am and I still wasn't up, I literally had to get up then or I wasn't going to get out in time for Sunrise. I kept putting it off and then I realised this isn't the attitude of someone who makes commitments and adheres to their schedule so I got straight up, quickly got ready and got myself and Milo into the car.
It was 6.15am when I got into the car and raced to the Waterfront (no speed limits were broke, promise).
Once I got there, I sat on a bench looking out over the waterfront and asked myself why would I choose staying in bed over appreciating the rise of a new day?
It was colder out there, about 9 degrees but Milo and I sat and watched the Sunrise and passerby's out running and walking. Well, I sat and watched while Milo tried to wriggle around and reach out to anyone that might notice him :) haha!
Although, it was just to watch the sunrise and walk along the waterfront and nothing work related or training related I had scheduled myself to do it and I couldn't pass up on the appointment I had made with myself. I know it might sound silly to some BUT if we make appointments with ourselves or schedule ourselves to do certain things and we fall through on those commitments we are only kidding ourselves.
I'm so glad I got myself up out of bed this morning to appreciate the start of a new day.
I got some photos and a quick time lapse of the sunrise but then my phone battery died. I usually walk and listen to a Podcast or Audiobook but I had nothing then so I was left walking with my own thoughts.
Hugs for the Pupper :)
A new day can bring so much, depending on your attitude.. New hope, opportunities, beginnings.
It was nice to think about all of that this morning while sitting and watching the Sunrise.
I'm learning every day about the power of mindset and how our thoughts control what we think and what we do.
I had actually scheduled myself to go train after the walk but I got home and had all of this running around in my head that I decided to just sit down and write this up and get some work done and switch my training to later today.
I hope by reading this that some of you are more inclined and inspired now to stick to your commitments to yourself. Or even make new commitments to yourself!
It's never too late to start over or try new things.
And if you haven't got up early to watch a Sunrise in the past, I encourage you to do so. It will light up your day :)
It's definitely something I'm going to try and do more often!
Have a great weekend xx
